Dear Leeann Lane

Thank you for the memories that have built me and my children.

I love that some mornings, when I step out of my bedroom, I have to stop for a second and enjoy how the sunrise has painted my windows into a breathtaking masterpiece with bright pinks and orange and yellows blending and peeking through the trees to say good morning to my piece of earth. And when I look out those same windows, I am reminded of how much I love watching storms from my covered deck. Safe under its care, but still enjoying the sight, sound and feel of the tumultuous wind and rain as it has its way with all the trees in the back yard.

The earth here has offered many opportunities to teach my children the value of working in the garden and in the vineyards. I was speaking remorsefully the other day about the vineyards not really working out and that maybe we shouldn’t have done that, but the girls piped in and said, “But Mom, think of all the hours that we spent together working and the fun harvest parties and picking all those grapes with our friends. I would miss those memories.” I have to agree. I would miss the memories of Brandon working with the tractor so well and  helping us plant 1000 plants; Reagan being goofy and being a radio station for me to keep me entertained. And I would miss Bailey saying she was going in for a drink of water and never coming back out. LOL. So, I guess it was worth the thousands of dollars and countless hours of hard work after all.

There is something heartwarming about looking out the kitchen window to see your chickens waddling towards your daughter as fast as they can because they know she usually has something good for them.

In troubled times, I have walked up and down the driveway in the dark of the night and sorted out my thoughts. I’ve written many journal entries while sitting in my pergola swing, and spent quality time with my very best of friends there, making wreaths out of my grapevine trimmings.

I have hopped on the golf-cart on a Sunday morning to run to the spring and pick fresh Mint for tea. I’ve enjoyed many an early morning run down Leeann and Grimes mill rd as the sun rises through the misty morning and starts to warm the day.

I have watched my children become young adults in the house and they make me proud everyday. From the very first small tractor mower that we bought, to the big one that we have now, Brandon has been ready and willing to be a help to me and he has grown up to be a true farm boy at heart.

I am ready to release this beautiful home to its next family.

May you enjoy the sunrises as much as we have. May your children swing from the branches of these trees, lose teeth on the zip line, and come home dirty and tired from their day at play. May you enjoy countless bonfires and s’mores with your kids and their friends as you watch them grow into wonderful young adults, just as I have.

Goodbye my lovely home on  Leeann Lane
